Lawang Sewu

Lawang Sewu is the name of a building in the Central Java city of Semarang ancient. Lawang Sewu once functioned as head office Nederlands-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij or train service NIS, a Dutch companies operating in Semarang. Designed by Prof. Jacob F. Klinkhamer (TH Delft) and B. J. Ouendag, the architect who lived in Amsterdam at the end of 1903, the development of the building was started in February 27, 1904 and finished in July 01, 1907. Name Lawang Sewu which means a thousand door comes from the form buildings that have many doors and windows.
